11th January 2015
New Year greetings to you and yours. We start back this Sunday - 11th January.
Wow what great Christingle services we had! We were able to collect a record £747 87p which we have sent to the Children's Society. But I must also say a very big thank you to all of you who encouraged your children to participate in this; also for all those who helped in making the Christingles and finally to thank everyone who helped during the actual services. Other churches are asking us what we do as we seem to have got the safety sorted out at present and that is great but, please if you feel that we could improve in any way then let us know and it will make a brilliant experience for all an even better one! Thanks everyone - it would not happen without you all. Also please give Joshua Maynard a pat on the back as he wrote and directed the second Christingle service - Josh, we are very proud of you.
Please hold Mary Tester in your prayers. She is due to have an operation soon and all being well will be back after that. Also Ida who has led groups for many years has moved to Pembury. These events, and the fact that I am taking on more responsibilities within the church, has shown us that we are again needing more leaders. We therefore are sending out a plea to you all - if you could, would you consider taking on a leadership of a group or share leadership with a friend. The work load is minimal and we are all there to help you to know what to do. You do not need to be a teacher. Doing this does help you to grow in your understanding of your faith and having to explain things to children does help you to strengthen your own faith. Please consider this seriously and let one of us know if you are interested. We also ask that all parents bring their children into the hall and stay until there is an adult present to take over.
Perhaps you might be interested in coming away with us for a weekend camp away I am including details with this letter. We will go the last weekend of the summer term in July. It is a pleasant family weekend away and a great time is had by all. Your child can come without parents as long as he/she is over 7 years. We need a £10 deposit with the form and the cost (including food is £50). We will join the ECTreme youth club and our youth leader, Anthony.
We need 2 families to make the Easter garden this year - please come forward before we ask you! You make a small arrangement of wild flowers in a container that we supply. You then bring it to Church on Easter Saturday morning at 10am so that we can put them all together around the Easter Garden at the font.
We will not hold a workshop this year on Good Friday; instead we will join with other ECC members with a procession through town on Good Friday.
Here are some dates for your diary:
